Clear business model

We don't need your data to make money. While KeePassium offers a free tier, we make money by selling premium plans.

KeePassium Labs is an officially registered company based in Luxembourg, Europe (founder's place of residence). As the name suggests, making KeePassium is the very purpose of company's existence. We don't have any incentive to steal user data and jeopardize a profitable business, reputation and personal freedom.

Since the first release in 2019, we don't sell user data — we sell the app.

Works offline

KeePassium never "phones home" for any reason. You can check this using the iOS App Privacy Report feature.

KeePassium is designed as an offline app. While it does offer some optional network-dependent features, they are blocked by default and KeePassium won't use them without your permission. You can use the app in offline mode.

The app can remain offline even while working with online databases. How is this possible? By default, we delegate synchronization to your cloud provider's app, so it handles all the network communication while KeePassium only handles encryption. You can also opt in for a direct connection to major storage providers.

In-app purchases

Freemium version of KeePassium can communicate with the App Store servers, in order to manage in-app purchases. KeePassium Pro does not have in-app purchases, so it does not communicate with the App Store.

Audited

KeePassium has been independently audited by specialized cybersecurity firms. So far, this is the only KeePass-compatible mobile app with an independent audit.

No vendor lock

You own your data and can move it whenever you want.

KeePassium stores your data in an encrypted file. You choose where to keep that file, and you can open it with any KeePass-compatible app (with the correct master key, of course). Even if the app goes under, you still have your data.

Open source

KeePassium is an open-source app. Unlike our main competitors, we actually publish the source code that can be compiled. This way, you have the maximum assurance:
